What is Le Chat?
Le Chat is Mistral AI's take on the everyday assistant, and the first thing you notice is how quick it feels. Answers arrive fast, and it handles the usual jobs well: drafting, summarizing, translating and helping with code.
We liked having web search for current questions and the canvas for working on longer pieces of text or code side by side with the chat. It can also read uploaded documents and generate images, so it covers most of what people expect from a modern chatbot.
For some users, the fact that it comes from a European company is a plus. Its ecosystem of extras is smaller than the biggest US rivals, though. The free plan is generous, and Pro at $14.99 per month raises limits.
