What is Perplexity?
Perplexity is what we reach for when a regular search would mean opening ten tabs. You ask a question in plain language, and it searches the web, writes a concise answer and lists the sources it used so you can click through.
Follow-up questions feel natural, and Pro Search digs deeper by breaking complex queries into steps. Spaces let you group research by topic, and you can upload files to ask about them too. It has become a genuine replacement for a lot of everyday searching.
The free tier is very capable. Pro at $20/mo adds more advanced searches and a choice of leading AI models. As with any AI summary, it sometimes misreads a source, so for anything important it's worth checking the citations.
